Georgetown offer some unique style of architecture. These heritage areas have been a melting pot of different people, cultures, races and religions.The uniqueness of these cities need to be observed and appreciated. The objectives for this project :
1. To expose the students with graphic design and nourish their creativity in presenting
the ideas selectively and graphically.
2. To enhance students understanding on the building elements and principles of
design through observation on existing heritage building/monument/landmark.
3. To improve students’ skills in creative thinking, sketching, rendering, colouring,
writing description and composing graphical images.
Street Beach Fire Station,Georgetown, Penang,Malaysia.
The central fire station at the junction between Beach Street and Chulia Street Ghaut,within Georgetown's UNESCO World Heritage Site,serves as the main fire station in the city center.It was constructed in 1908 and opened in 1909.Furthermore, it also one of the many interesting colonial buildings we can see with the world heritage area.
It features a classical-style facade,lined with double-storey pilasters,above the rusticated columns at the front entrance facing Beach Street.However, the most imposing structure is its four-storey tower,designed in a mix of Mughal and Edwardian styles.
